The Nickel Bar was established February 6, 2009 by Milton L. Howard. In 1990, Milton had a vision of starting a club that catered to the taste of the African American gay community; something that had never been done before in the Charlotte metro area. The club (Snuffy's), became a major hit in the city and changed the landscape of the African American gay nightlife forever. After working with various club owners in the city, he then patiently waited until he could open his own bar/club; it took 19 years to achieve to his dream. In December 2008, he began the steps of opening The Nickel Bar; a social/dance bar for the mature African American gay community of Charlotte. His dream finally came true!

Our mission at The Nickel Bar is to serve Charlotte's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgendered community by providing a place where you can relax, socialize in an all mature environment.
